Yellow rice is a popular type of rice, that is made with white rice. This rice can be enjoyed with almost any type of main dish. I usually see this rice made with chicken, beef, pork, and even seafood. This rice is super easy to make from scratch! You will need that 1 main ingredient, which is the spice turmeric. This spice gives the white rice a yellow color. Turmeric has always been my choice of spice to use, but you can substitute with annatto or saffron. Let’s jump into this super easy rice recipe.

Serve with baked or fried chicken, shrimp, fish, porkchops. This rice makes the perfect side dish!
Ingredients
2 cups of white rice: parboil, jasmine, basmati ( just a few types of white rice you can use. I used parboil)
1- 1 1/2 tbsp of ground turmeric
1 /2 yellow onion
1 red bell pepper
1-2 cloves of fresh garlic or 2 tbsp of garlic powder ( I like to use garlic & Herb by Dash)
1 cube or 1 tbsp of Chicken Bouillon
3-4 cups of water
at least 1tbsp of margin butter or cooking oil
Directions
- First, rinse white rice a few times with cold water. Then add cold water over rice in cooking pot, at least 3 cups.
- Turn stove on medium heat, add butter/oil, chopped onions and bell peppers. Mix everything in with rice.
- When rice starts to heat and boil, add turmeric, and chicken bouillon. Also any other seasonings that you want to add. Turn heat down to medium low and place lid over the pot of rice.
- Let rice cook for at least 25 minutes. At 10 minutes give the rice a good stir. If water is starting to go, you can cook for last 5 or 10 minutes with lid off. *Reduce heat while cooking if needed*. Turn rice completely off when done!
