20 minutes
Garlic and herb, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, old bay, onion powder, chicken seasoning
Ingredients
1 bag of Whiting or Swai fillet individually frozen fillets( I suggest using this kind of fish for beginners, but of course use your choice of fish)
Vegetable or Canola oil
1/2 cup- Flour
1 cup -yellow Cornmeal
Yellow Mustard ( at least 1 cup)
Directions
- If your fish is frozen thaw out under cold water, should take 2-3 minutes. Clean/Rinse, pat dry.
- Next take your thawed and cleaned fish, and season front and back. Add at least 2 squirts of mustard on each piece of fish ( rub the mustard into the fish)
- Take your frying pan or deep frying pot cover with oil, turn stove on medium high heat. Put enough oil to fry your fish, usually pans have a line or indicator too much oil is in the pan. You dont want to fill your oil past because of a possibility of a mess or even fire.
- While your oil is heating, in a dry sheet pan( or wherever you feel comfortable to coat fish) cover bottom with mixture of flour and cornmeal. Then add seasoned fish(suggest 2-3 at a time)add some more flour and cornmeal on top of fish. Keep flipping until your fish is coated. Add more cornmeal and flour as needed while cooking.
- When your oil is hot (MAKE SURE OIL IS HOT) start adding your fish ,2-3 in pan at a time unless you are using a big frying pan. Cooking your fish on both sides for about 4-5 minutes. Take out when fish is golden and crispy.
- Suggestion: let oil drip off fish on a layer of paper towel or on a safe oil dripping rack
