Chicken noodle soup is a old time favorite. You can make this soup right at home. This soup is great for a cold or rainy day. Great to have when you or family/friend is feeling under the weather. Whatever the reason is, this is a great recipe to have. With weather currently under 20 degrees, I decided to whip together this soup in the crockpot. This may take a longer, so make sure to use this cooking method when you have time. Don’t worry, this same recipe can be made faster on the stove, just follow same steps. The cook time will just be cut down. Serve this soup with crackers, salad, sandwiches, or just sip on this tasty broth by itself. Let’s jump into how to make this homestyle chicken noodle soup.
What you will need
- 2 skinless and boneless chicken breast
- Chicken broth (32 oz)
- 2 -3 sticks of celery
- 2-3 raw or already sliced carrots
- 1 Yellow onion
- Egg noodles
- Seasonings-garlic and herb, 1 goya chicken seasoning packet, black pepper, thyme leaves, 1 bay leaf
- This Recipe feeds at least 4 people, double if needed
How to make Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup
- Take your chicken breast out clean/rinse/pat dry. Then add to your crockpot. Add seasoning I have listed above or add your own seasoning blend.
- Turn crockpot on medium/high
- Next chop up your carrots, onions, and celery, add it to the crockpot.
- Then your going to add your chicken broth.
- Let your chicken, veggies, and broth cook for about 3 hours in crockpot, if using stove top, cook chicken breast for about 1 hour.
- When your breast are done, take out and shred chicken in a bowl. Then add it back to your crockpot.
- Next, add your egg noodles, I used about a half of bag.
- Make sure to stir your chicken and noodles in some.
- Now, let your soup cook for about 30-40 more minutes on low in crockpot. Garnish with black pepper, parsley if you want,Serve when ready.
