Oven Baked Tacos

Oven baked tacos are so yummy and easy to make. A while back I saw that people were baking tacos and I haven’t turned away since. I usually make soft tacos at home and order same from restaurants. This is not because I don’t like hard shell tacos, I just can’t stand that it always breaks apart. This easy recipe definitely fixed that problem. So now when I’m craving hard shell tacos, I just pop them right in the oven. The best part about this method, is that it works for soft shell too. So you can have both if you like for Baked tacos night!

Does it matter what type of meat and toppings you add?

Heck no! If you’re not feeling the traditional beef, add chicken, pork, or even shrimp. If you usually load your tacos with beans, etc, go ahead and add it. Don’t forget to top with shredded Cheese! When your tacos are done, add your favorites: tomatoes, onion, lettuce, sour cream, Pico.

Let’s jump into this Easy Recipe

Hard and Soft tacos
Tacos with shredded Cheese before oven

Ingredients

  • 1lb ground beef or choice of meat

  • 1 box of hard taco shells or soft taco/fajita size tortillas. ( I use both hard and soft)

  • Shredded Mexican cheese blend, or Cheddar

  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (rotel with green chilies)

Taco Seasoned ground beef

Directions

  • First, cook your ground beef, 1 chopped onion, diced tomato, and chiles to beef while cooking ( drain or leave juice for tomatoes and chiles). Season ground beef with seasonings listed above or you can use a taco seasoning packet.
  • Next, preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a baking dish, line up your taco shells or soft tortillas. If you are using soft tortillas, suggest spraying a little cooking oil on pan so it doesn’t stick.
  • Fill each one with cooked ground beef and top with cheese.
  • Then put in oven for at least 10 minutes. Cheese should be melted and your tacos should be crispy and firm.
