Dirty Rice

The Best Rice to use

Parboil rice or jasmine rice are both a go to for this recipe. These two types of rice are more loose when cooked with meat. Also, this will keep your rice from becoming too thick while cooking. This recipe is idea to have a soft but seasoned dry rice.

Try this recipe with ground sausage, it works great too. Serve this rice with fried chicken or just keep it simple and grab a bowl. Let’s get into this recipe.

Ground beef, red bell pepper, onion, carrots in water and beef bouillon

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups of rice(parboil)

  • 1LB of ground beef

  • 1 Carrot ( whole raw or 1 cup pre sliced in package)

  • 1 onion

  • 1 red bell pepper

  • Beef bouillon or you can use 1-2 packets of Beef seasoning

  • 2 tsp of browning seasoning (optional)

  • 3 cups -Water

  • Olive oil (optional, I use oil from ground beef)

Directions

  • First, start cooking the ground beef. Season your beef while cooking.
  • While your beef is cooking start chopping up your vegetables. Onion, Carrot, bell pepper.
  • When the beef is done cooking, drain any extra oil, then add it to the pot you will cook dirty rice in. Also add chopped vegetables.
  • Next, cover beef and vegetables with water, at least 3 -4 cups. Turn stove on medium high and bring beef and vegetables to a boil. Start adding beef seasoning and browning while it’s heating. Add any extra seasonings you will like at this time.
  • When water starts to boil, (add a splash of olive oil if you didn’t add oil from beef) and the rice. Give it a stir and turn stove down low to let rice cook for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to check and stir while it’s cooking. Water should be gone when done!
