Meatballs and gravy

Ingredients

  • 1lb of ground beef

  • 1 yellow onion

  • 1 bell pepper (optional)

  • At least 1/2 cup of bread crumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic (optional)

  • 1 cup of water mixed with 1-2 beef bouillon packet or 1 cup of beef broth ( add more as needed)

  • 1-2 tbsp of flour

  • 1/2-1 cup of olive oil or your choice of cooking oil

Directions

  • Empty ground beef into a mixing bowl. Add seasoning mentioned in details or your choice. Then add chopped bell pepper, egg, and bread crumbs. Mix everything together, then start making meatballs. I roll medium size balls with my hands.
  • In a frying pan add cooking oil, add enough to cover bottom of pan. Heat oil on medium heat.
  • When the oil is hot, start adding meatballs. Brown the meatballs all around until cooked. Set meatballs to the side to drip oil off while you make the gravy.
  • In that same pan add chopped onions and fresh garlic. Saute onions and garlic for about 2-3 minutes. Then add flour, mix flour into onions until the flour is dissolved. Next, slowly add beef broth or 1 packet of beef bouillon mixed with water. Stir until you have a gravy thick to your liking. You may need to add more broth or water. ( suggest cooking gravy on low medium heat)
  • Now add meatballs to gravy, bring gravy to a boil ( roll meatballs around in gravy), then let simmer covered for about 7-10 minutes on low heat. Mix gravy around meatballs before simmering. Turn stove off or keep meatballs on low when done(if not serving right away).
